People are always trading pieces, so why not trade a piece for charity” – Phil Gordon

Last night’s Twitter Poker Tour event drew its largest crowd to date with 314 players joining the TPT Charity Event to Benefit Bad Beat on Cancer.  The $10 buy in tournament prize pool was divided so that half of the proceeds went to benefit BBoC, which means that $1,570 was raised from the participation of the members of the TPT, Professional Poker players, and other online poker players that joined to help put a Bad Beat on Cancer.

In addition to the money raised through the prize pool, the TPT announced on the day of the event that they would run a Bad Beat on Cancer Challenge, where the TPT would make a further donation to BBoC based on the number of participants reached.  Given that more than 300 people registered for the event, the TPT donated an additional $100.

Several other players donated to the event, including the tournament winner Pete D, who agreed to chop the 1st place prize money with the 2nd place finisher AndyTheNinja while Andy held a chip lead, enabling Andy to take a larger cash prize.  After winning the first place prize of $313.70, Pete D pledged $100 of his win towards BBoC.  36 players finished in the money with the final table finishing as follows:

1st – Pete D ($313.70

2nd – AndyTheNinja ($330.00)

3rd – theunknownb ($188.40)

4th – RuGmUnCh3R ($145.23)

5th – miNdmaster12 ($109.90)

6th – dstreetla ($78.50)

7th – inmw24 ($51.03)

8th – NickCC ($39.25)

9th – Fergos1 ($31.40)

As a prize for making the final table, each member received a copy of Tommy Angelo’s Elements of Poker courtesy of the TPT’s sponsor DeucesCracked.  Additionally AndyTheNinja received a 6 month membership to DeucesCracked for his 2nd place finish, and Pete D received a 1 year membership along with the opportunity to be featured in a training video with the DeucesCracked team, with the opportunity to turn it into a series.

Many thanks to the 314 participants, and most notably the 12 members of Full Tilt Poker’s team of Professional Poker Players who joined the event including Bad Beat on Cancer founders Phil Gordon and Rafe Furst.  The list of notable pro’s also included Andy Bloch, Lee Watkinson, Joe Beevers, Ross Boatman, Richard Ashby, Marco Liesy, Michael Craig, Dave Colclough, Gabriella Hill, Amanda ‘Mandy B’ Baker, and Lock Poker Pro Lee Childs.

Finally, a warm thank you to the four individuals who joined us on the Live Stream Broadcast of the event.  Jan Mahrer, the Executive Vice President and COO of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Andrew Feldman, Andy Bloch, and Jay ‘Krantz’ Rosenkrantz.
